Raj Rathod, M.D., M.B.A.

Dr. Raj RathodDr. Raj Rathod is a native of Orange County, having grown up in the Anaheim Hills area. He completed his undergraduate education at Stanford University, receiving a B.S. in Biology. He then worked for a medical internet startup in Los Angeles, before moving on to attend medical school and business school at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He returned to California for a year, completing an internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose. His residency was completed at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes Jewish Medical Center, where he received several awards for teaching and patient care. Following residency, Dr. Rathod served as the Chief Resident at Washington University. His next stop was Chicago, where he completed a two year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and ocular tumors at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He was voted by the department as “Fellow of the Year.”

Dr. Rathod’s clinic interests include diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, retinopathy of prematurity, macular hole, and epiretinal membrane. He also has specific training in management of intraocular tumors, including uveal melanoma. His research interests include novel applications of minimally invasive surgery, outcomes of newer surgical techniques, and understanding the use of ocular therapeutics. Dr. Rathod is a member of several medical societies and is actively involved in national meetings and organizations.

Dr. Rathod and his fiancé live in south Orange County. They enjoy staying active and traveling. Dr. Rathod enjoys photography, music, computer technology, and cooking.
